TV shows with gay characters could lose Florida tax credits
A new bill being considered for Florida could mean that television shows or films with gay characters within them that are shot in the state could miss out on vital tax credits because they are not deemed “family friendly”.
Current state law grants tax credits on productions considered “family friendly” - with no smoking, sex, nudity or profane language.
The proposal by Republican Rep. Stephen Precourt of Orlando would expand the field of disqualified productions as those that include any “exhibit or implied act” of nontraditional family values and gratuitous violence.
Stephen Precourt told the Palm Beach Post that shows with gay characters were not “the kind of thing I’d say that we want to invest public dollars in”.
UM HELLO ITS 2010 K THX DIE.

Hey, After the Washington Post published an image of 2 men kissing upon registering for their marriage licenses, the paper recieved many phone calls and emails from readers opposing the photo and revoking their subscriptions. The WP’s ombudsman Andrew Alexander issued a statement defending the photo calling it joyful and a significant historical event.
To counter the opposition’s voice, I think it would be nice if we emailed or called Andrew Alexander and thank him for not backing down.

A northern Mississippi school district decided Wednesday not to host a high school prom after a lesbian student demanded she be able to attend with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.
The Itawamba County school district’s policy requires that senior prom dates be of the opposite sex. The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi had given the district until Wednesday to change that policy and allow 18-year-old Constance McMillen to escort her girlfriend, who is also a student, to the dance on April 2.
Instead, the school board met and issued a statement announcing it wouldn’t host the event at Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, ”due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events.”

SAVE A LIFE
My friend’s are currently in the production of making an amazing documentary called SAVE A LIFE, about the FDA’s ban that prohibits gay people from donating blood or organs to those in need.
In 1983 the FDA instate the MSM Blood Ban, preventing all gay men from ever donating blood.
in 2009 the Red Cross urged the FDA to lift the gay blood ban for fear it will only exclude millions of potential donors. Sadly the FDA chose to uphold the blood ban.
Save A Life is a documentary that will work to uncover the 1983 gay blood ban, while encouraging the promotion of reform and the chance to lift the ban in the future.

The shit American companies/politicians can get away with scares me. As long as they’re teaching my kids (y’know, things like slavery, the holocaust and evolution rather than whitewash and creationism) I couldn’t care less how they’re dressed.
this is disgusting.
this shit pisses me off so much. a customer that comes into my boyfriend’s work just got fired from his teaching job because his students went through his personal things, found he was gay and spread the word around the school. completely heartbreaking and unfair. something needs to change.
ridiculous.
